during an interview Football InsiderFormer Premier League scout Mick Brown – who is said to be “in good contact with the game” – claims Liverpool will “break their own rules and offer Salah a longer contract”.
“I’m sure they will reach an agreement at some stage.” Brown told Football Insider.
“I’m always amazed at clubs building bridges they can’t cross. There are always exceptions. It’s a problem they’ve created for themselves. They only want to offer older players one-year contracts, but Salah has to be the exception.
“He’s very important to the club and a good player, so you have to break your own rules.
“As far as I know, they will talk to Salah behind the scenes and propose a two-year contract.
“They won’t go any higher than that, it won’t be three years, for example, because they have a one-year rule for themselves. Then the ball is in his court and it’s up to him to agree to it.
“Liverpool have to deal with the situation properly and as we said to Van Dijk they want to get it done as early as possible, probably before January if they can.”
