Living legend Paul Lim sets up World Final with Shane McGuirk as ultimate Lakeside fairytale lives on

Paul Lim he will face Shane McGuirk in the 2024 men’s final WDF World Championships because the fairy tale lives on for Singapore’s fan favorite and living legend.

At 70, Lim continues to show why he is a carefree delight with a gentle past Jason Brandon which was one of the stories of the tournament. He had an epic fight with Neil Duff late in the evening, which he won, but Lim was too solid despite finishing late in the evening twice before.

He was at Lake at almost half past midnight last night he had escorted Jarno Bottenberg to an almost half-empty hall, but tonight the hall was almost full and willing to take his every dart.

Lim started brilliantly. After abandoning the first period, he went on a tear, winning six on the bounce and leading 2-0 at the first break.

He didn’t budge, still not giving Brandon a chance. He broke through to start the third set with 67 shots, then held 17 shots and took advantage of missed opportunities by Brandon, who was under the basket at 3-0.

Things got worse when he missed a break opportunity in the fourth set and Lim responded and broke with a 15-darter. Very similar to that as old as time one where you miss me, and when Brandon got back to 100, he made 25 after initially losing 96 to take a 4-0 lead.

The fifth set started with a lavish 104 points, and he was one point away from winning. Brandon finally stopped the rot after 15 legs with no answers. But Lim crossed the line.

Incredibly, he hit a 180 to leave a double 20 and the fairy tale almost came true, but he got his lines wrong and had to wait for Brandon to send it to the decider who had the darts. But Brandon missed 74 and Lim hit 133 before missing 80, and incredibly sealed the victory by hitting 15, bull.

He was the first player to complete nine darts at the World Championships in 1990, at the age of 70, and in 2024, at the age of 70, he could become the oldest world champion.
