Patrick Mahomes
2024 began as a year with questions surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs and their superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
A disappointing Christmas Day loss to their division rival Las Vegas Raiders was the fifth in eight games, knocking off the reigning champions 9-6. A fourth Super Bowl visit in five seasons – and third title – and a 9-0 start to the 2024 campaign, punctuate a run of 15 wins in a row through the playoffs.
Mahomes missed out on Lamar Jackson’s third league MVP award last year, while he’s set to be overlooked again in 2024, with Saquon Barkley, Josh Allen and possibly Jackson again favoring Mahomes, who just finished in the league’s top 10. Both passing yards and touchdowns among quarterbacks this season.
But, it’s a Chiefs offense that’s floundering without their usual offensive weapons to help Mahomes’ talent — and one he’s yet to win a ninth-straight division title, surpassed only by the great New England Patriots dynasty (2009-2019) of the 21st century.
Also, Mahomes is at his best in the clutch. Just like when Kansas City overcame a losing streak late last year. They went on a run in January, and after falling 10 points to the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, he carried his team to its second-straight championship on his shoulders.
Now, Mahomes and the Chiefs are aiming for a ‘three-peat’, which has never been achieved before in NFL history. Write to him at your peril.
