Luke Littler wins PDC World Darts Championship repeat over Michael van Gerwen, set to face Stephen Bunting at Dutch Darts Masters

We have a new winner in Den Bosch. Defending champion Michael van Gerwen he was eliminated on Saturday night in the quarterfinals against Łukasz Małyrwho lost in last year’s final to Van Gerwen.

It was not a good match for the men, who were still in the final of the World Darts Championship earlier this month. Littler averaged just 94.85, compared to just 90.26 for Van Gerwen.

Littler took a 1-0 lead after a 14-darter and then saw Van Gerwen waste three chances to keep his own foot. Van Gerwen eventually had 21 shots to do so, and the leg went to Littler with a 21-darter. The world champion then took a 3-0 lead after a 15-darter.

Van Gerwen then got on the scoreboard after hitting 12 darters before Littler missed four chances to make it 4-1. Van Gerwen made it 2-3 and then tied the score with a second 12-darter. Littler was then able to make it 4-3 with a 16-darter before beating Van Gerwen with a 15-darter. The Englishman then decided the result with a 14-darter.

One sec Stephen Bunting who, having won the Bahrain Darts Masters, is the number one seed in Den Bosch Raymond van Barneveld.. “Barney” showed resilience, but ultimately lost to “The Bullet.”

The match started with a very bad leg which went to Van Barneveld with a 22-darter. It was a break, but the Dutchman did not score a double in six visits. Bunting equalized and made it 2-1 after a 12-darter. Van Barneveld then responded with strike 12 to increase the score to 2-2.

Van Barneveld then had two break chances but missed them. Bunting regained the lead and then saw ‘Barney’ level the score again. A 12-darter and a 16-darter made it 5-3 for Bunting, but Van Barneveld didn’t give up and got back to 5-5. Bunting started the final leg and the Englishman took advantage with a 13-darter.
