Manchester United are among the Premier League clubs reportedly interested in Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor, with his agent revealing he wants to “emulate” two Brazilian icons.

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has largely moved on from the glaring mistakes of last season’s game. During his first season at Old Trafford, the goalkeeper was regularly slammed for hurting his team.

Perhaps coincidentally, United became interested in the new goalkeeper shortly after Onana reverted to his old habits and passed the ball to Plzen Vittoria, resulting in the Red Devils conceding a simple goal in the Europa League but the interest was nowhere to be found. Not the same.

indeed, Football Insider Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been named as clubs interested in Botafogo goalkeeper Victor.

The outlet has spoken to his agent, who revealed that the 6-foot-5 man wants to emulate the two Brazilian icons by playing in the Premier League amid strong interest.

Pedro Gutierrez said: “I received a lot of calls from European clubs asking about John, which is not surprising after what he achieved at Botafogo.”

“There was interest from clubs in England, Germany, Portugal and elsewhere, but John preferred to play in the best league in the world, the Premier League.

“Liverpool and Manchester City both have Brazilian goalkeepers Alisson and Ederson who have both been successful in England.

“John would love the chance to emulate these two and become the latest Brazilian goalkeeper to showcase his talent in the Premier League.”

Ederson, 31, has made more appearances than he has in the Premier League alone, making 262 appearances for Manchester City since joining in 2017.

Regardless, Victor hopes to follow in his and Alisson’s footsteps, and there are plenty of good years ahead of him, as goalkeepers often play into their 30s or even later.
