Both City and Barca have qualified for the quarter-finals, but if the Spanish team beats City by more than two goals, they will overtake the English club and top the group.
Barca already have a higher goal difference than City, but a victory for the Spanish team over the English team would bring both clubs level on points in the group.
The rule in the Women’s Champions League is that if two clubs have the same number of points, the goal difference between the two clubs is compared. City beat Barca 2-0 in October and therefore the Spanish club must win this match by two or more goals.
The assignment seems more likely given City’s injury list, especially as Hemp, Shaw, Greenwood and Miedema all played key roles in the victory over Barca.
