Manchester United are said to be “considering” a January transfer for the former Manchester City midfielder.
There appears to be no place to hide for head coach Ruben Amorim at the moment, with the Red Devils sitting 13th in the Premier League table. United have won just one of their last six games in all competitions.
With the Europa League set to return to play soon, Amorima’s team looks a bit pale considering the departure rumors Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Toby Collyer have already been discussed. However, one Brazil international is currently being linked with a return to the Premier League this month.
Douglas Luiz linked with a move to Manchester United despite his previous links with rivals Manchester City
According to information provided by Sports witnessformer Manchester City and Aston Villa player Douglas Luiz is represented by the same agent as Red Devils striker Joshua Zirkzee.
This saw Luiz and Manchester United linked up in January, given the 26-year-old had a difficult start in Italy following his summer transfer to Turin.
Luiz has made just two Serie A starts and has only made nine appearances in total for the Italian giants. It is worth monitoring Manchester United’s interest in the midfielder, as he is represented by Kia Joorabchian.
Rumors of Zirkzee returning to Italy have also been discussed as early as this month, with the report speculating how a swap deal involving both players could be envisaged before the window closes.
“I want to keep Josh because he gives his all and tries in training, but we don’t know,” said Amorim after the 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.
“The window is open and we will see what happens. We just have to focus on training and translate it into other matches. It’s only one point, so let’s focus on our performance in the next matches.
IN FourFourTwo viewLuiz would be a good addition to Old Trafford given he knows what it takes to be a combative Premier League midfielder. He certainly poses a greater threat than Eriksen and Casemiro, so we agree it makes sense for Manchester United to continue.
