Marco Silva Said Fulham’s goalless draw Southampton It was a “missed opportunity” after they failed to regain their winning touch at Craven Cottage.
Fulham have now won once in their last six Premier League Sunday matches and enough big wins could see them go up Manchester City in the seventh
Despite a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield last week, the Cottagers failed to give their best against Saints, who were in Simon Rask’s interim charge with Ivan Juric watching from the stands.
“I have to say it’s a missed opportunity for us to get up the table,” Silva said.
“In our last four results, they’re going to have a big impact if we can step up and win the game today. We respect Southampton but we have to win games like this at home and we didn’t create enough chances in the game.”
New boss Juric was present from the stands as Saints picked up their first points since November 29
Interim Rask credited his side’s performance as they managed a rare clean sheet in the capital.
“The players’ accomplishments, their effort and concentration level was fantastic, and hopefully it’s a platform to move forward,” Rask said.
“(I had) some contact with Ivan, we had some conversations, we are happy that the club made that appointment.
“We’ve had some dialogue, over the next few weeks we’ll see Ivan’s impact and impact on the team.”
Aaron RamsdellWearing a special four-finger glove after returning from a hand injury, he shone on his return to the Saints XI.
The former Arsenal keeper, who joined Southampton in the summer for a club-record fee of £30million, made a number of superb stops to earn his side a draw.
“Aaron’s energy is fantastic,” added Rask.
“We’re lucky to have such a top-level player, he delivered a top-level moment, it’s great to see him back.
“It’s a great platform now, not just for Aaron, but for the team as well.”
