It is the gift of the Masters almost as elusive as a ticket: a direct flight down Augusta, Ga.
But maybe not anymore.
A few months until the start of the Masters 2025 competition Delta Airlines announces largest-ever connection to Augusta Regional Airport during tournament week. Delta, an Atlanta-based company that is one of the “official partners” of the Masters, will increase seating capacity in Augusta by 15 percent in 2025 during the week of the first major golf tournaments, thereby increasing the number of daily inbound seats for the event until 1900.
Masters regulars know all too well the pain of traveling to Augusta. For most of the United States, the easiest way to get to Augusta is to fly into Atlanta’s main international airport, then travel to Augusta in 2.5 hours. Other, more convenient options include Columbia, South Carolina. However, none of these options beats convenience flies to Augustaa tiny regional airport located just minutes from the main entrance to the golf course.
“As Delta celebrates its centennial, we are proud to welcome Masters patrons to our home state of Georgia for the iconic Masters Tournament,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s vice president of network programming, in a release announcing the service expansion. “With new service from Minneapolis and White Plains and increased frequency from LaGuardia, we are making it easier than ever to join this world-renowned event.”
Delta’s new flight schedule will include one direct flight daily from Minneapolis St. Paul, Detroit and Boston; eight daily flights from Atlanta; two daily flights from New York-LaGuardia and one flight each on Wednesday, Friday and tournament Monday from Westchester, Washington-Reagan, Austin and New York-Kennedy. According to the airline, the new schedule will include 215 destinations on a one-stop flight to Augusta.
The news marks the second time in the past two years that Delta has expanded its service to Augusta for tournament week. This decision was welcomed with enthusiasm by tens of thousands of golf fans who travel to Augusta every April. Although only approximately 20,000 visitors will ultimately benefit from the availability, which is significantly less than the total number of visitors during tournament week, it greatly increases the flexibility of those wanting to get to the event.
The 2025 Masters Tournament will be held at Augusta National Golf Club from April 9-13, 2025.
