John Parry claimed his first DP World Tour victory in 14 years as a final-round 64 secured him the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open title at Mont Choisy Le Golf.
The 38-year-old Englishman holed an eagle and four birdies on his back nine for a winning score of 14 under par, twice as many as South African pair Dylan Naidoo and Christo Lamprecht, who shared second place.
Parry started the final round five shots back, but his birdie attack on the back nine allowed him to beat joint leader Naidoo, who finished his week with a 71 on Sunday.
Naidoo started his final round with three bogeys in the first four holes before recovering and sinking four birdies, although by then he was too far behind.
England’s Eddie Pepperell also had a share of the lead going into the final round, looking for his first victory since 2018, but his challenge faded after a double-bogey at the fifth, a two-for 74 that ultimately tied for ninth.
Parry’s previous victory on the elite European circuit came in the Vivendi Cup in 2010, but he has three Challenge Tour wins to his name this year.
“It’s huge (to win). Five or six years ago I was close to giving up golf,” Parry said. “It was a long battle, but it was worth it.”
