Michael van Gerwen knows opponent for third round at PDC World Darts Championship

Brendan Dolan will take Michael van Gerwen in the third round of the World Darts Championships after Christmas. The Northern Irishman was too strong for Hong Kong Lock Yin Lee 3-0 in sets.

Lee surprisingly defeated Dutchman Chris Landman in the first round. However, the 23-year-old was unable to match the level of that match. Dolan didn’t have to play great and managed to qualify for the next round relatively easily.

Everything was going according to plan in the first four games, so a fifth deciding match was needed to decide who would win the first set. This last stage also fell to the initiator, i.e. Brendan Dolan. The Irishman from Northern Ireland won the first set.

“The History Maker” managed to record the first break in the first game of the second set, finishing with 76. The Northern Irishman then stayed on his feet, reaching 70 points and increasing the score to 2-0.

Dolan had no appetite for a long match and wanted to end it right away in the third set. The Northern Irishman produced a 13-dart and a 14-dart to reach match point. Lee managed to bowl one more leg to finish on 76, but ‘The History Maker’ ended the match with an 18-darter.

Brendan Dolan will now enjoy his holiday before returning to Alexandra Palace after Christmas. As mentioned earlier, there will be a fight with Michael van Gerwen in the third round.
