Mickelson to miss LIV opener but eyes Adelaide return

Phil Mickelson suffered a slight shoulder injury during training in the gym and this week he will miss the opening of the LIV golf season in Saudi Arabia, but should be suitable for Adelaide next week.

54 -year -old Mickelson announced on Monday through social media.

Ollie Schniderjans will replace Mickelson in the LIV field this week, joining the team of Captain Hyflyers in Liv Golf Riyadh, starting Thursday. Hyflyers are still looking for the first victory in the team.

Mickelson said he was expecting to compete the next weekend at Liv Golf Adelaide, Grange Golf Club.

“I am definitely disappointed that I will miss the season opener, but I can’t wait to play Adelaide,” he said.

Schniderjans, a 31-year-old who grew up in Georgia, barely not hit the full LIV card at the Liv Golf Promotions event at the end of last year, but gained the right to play in 10 events in the international series in 2025.

He took advantage of this on Sunday, winning the International India series by four strikes over the US Open champion and Liv Bryson Decambeau star.

Another blow in third place was sitted by a couple of LIV players, Joaquin Niemann and Abraham Acier.
