RALEIGH, N.C. — Pyotr Kochetkov made 32 saves and had his first shutout of the season on Tuesday as the Carolina Hurricanes edged 4 -0 beat the New York Islanders.

Sebastian Aho had a goal and an assist, and Andrei Svechnikov, Jordan Martinuk and Tyson Yost also scored. Shane Gostisbehr added two assists.

The Hurricanes won back-to-back games for the first time since Nov. 25 and 27.

With the loss, the Islanders went three consecutive games scoreless for just the second time this season. Goaltender Ilya Sorokin was ejected after allowing four goals on 23 shots in two periods, and Marcus Hogberg made six saves in the third period.

Kochetkov stopped 13 shots in the first quarter but faced just nine in the third, his ninth career shutout. Carolina needed just one penalty kick in its second elimination game of the season.

MONTREAL — Patrik Laine scored his first hat trick in Montreal and Buffalo extended Buffalo’s winless streak to 11 games.

Juraj Slavkovski, Joel Armia and Josh Anderson also scored for Montreal, while Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki and Ryan Hutson each had two assists for Montreal. Tom Montbot stopped 20 shots.

Dylan Cozens scored for struggling Buffalo and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen had 15 saves on 21 shots. Reserve James Reimer blocked all six shots he faced entering the third quarter.

The loss came a day after Sabers owner Terry Pegula flew to Montreal for a team meeting.

Just 19 seconds into the game, Armia scored on a wide-open goal after Sabers defenseman Owen Power mishandled the puck at the end boards.

Ryan scored three goals for the 11th time in his career, giving the winger six goals in seven games since returning from a knee injury.

PITTSBURGH — Rickard Rakell scored at 1:44 of overtime and Pittsburgh rallied to defeat Los Angeles.

Rucker deflected Erik Karlsson’s penalty kick past Darcy Kuemper for the game-winner.

Evgeni Malkin scored and Matt Grzelcyk scored his first goal as a Penguin with 5:35 left in the third period. Send the game into overtime. Michael Bunting had two assists in his 300th NHL game.

Alex Nedelkovic made 29 saves.

Adrian Kempe scored in the 33rd second of the Los Angeles game, and Alex Turcotte also scored. Vladislav Gavrikov added two assists.

Kuemper stopped 28 shots.

Lightning 5, Blue Jackets 3

TAMPA, Fla. — Nick Paul had a goal and two assists to lead Tampa Bay to a win over Columbus.

Jake Guentzel, Luke Glendening, Brayden Point and Mitchell Chaffee also scored for Tampa Bay, which has won five of six games. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 28 saves.

Adam Fantilli, Cole Sillinger and Mikael Pyyhtia scored for the Blue Jackets. Jeter Greaves made 27 saves for Columbus, which has won one of its past nine games.

The Chargers took the lead in the second quarter, scoring three straight points, including a five-minute power play that saw Silinger play 17 minutes for inciting a fight.

Trailing 4-0, the Blue Jackets scored twice in 43 seconds of the third quarter. Sillinger tied the game with a goal with 5:49 left, but Point scored with an empty netter with 2:09 left.

British stone. St. Louis — Ondrej Palat and Stefan Noesen scored and New Jersey beat St. Louis.

Brenden Dillon also scored and Jesper Bratt added an empty-net goal for the Devils, who won their third straight game and fifth in their last seven games. Jacob Markstrom made 19 saves.

Jordan Kyrou scored and Jordan Binnington made 24 saves for the Blues.

With 4 minutes and 47 seconds left in the first quarter, Pratt received a pass from Luke Hughes and fired a shot to give New Jersey the lead. Pratt has three goals in his last four games.

Northam, playing his 400th career game, made it 2-0 with a power-play goal with 6:51 left in the second period. Dillon’s unassisted goal early in the third period extended New Jersey’s lead.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jonathan Marchessault and Adam Wiersby scored and Jus Saros made 25 saves to lead Nashville past New York.

The Predators have won two of three games after a franchise-record eight-game losing streak.

Igor Shesterkin made 30 saves for the struggling Rangers, who have lost three straight.

This was Saros’ third game this season and the 26th game of his career. Steven Stamkos and Filip Forsberg each had two assists.

CHICAGO — Ryan Donato scored his team-leading 11th goal with 2:18 left in regulation to give Chicago a three-goal run in the third period. A win over Washington.

Donato slid out of the right corner and slotted the ball past Logan Thompson to hand Washington its second straight loss of the season.

TJ Brodie tied the score at 2 with 5:53 left in the third quarter. Ilya Mikheyev scored Chicago’s first shorthanded goal of the season 51 seconds into the third period to help the Blackhawks come back from a two-goal deficit.

Taivo Teravainen had three assists for Chicago, which scored on 3 of 5 shots in the third quarter for its winning streak.

Pierre-Luc Dubois and Andrew Mangiapane scored for Washington in the first period. The Capitals’ 10-game road winning streak was snapped Monday night with a 3-1 loss in Dallas.

Arvid Soderblom made 20 saves and Thompson blocked 20 shots.

CALGARY, ALTA — Former Flames player Elias Lindholm had a goal and an assist and David Pastrnak added in overtime Scored 4 minutes and 22 seconds to help Boston defeat Calgary from behind.

Morgan Gilkey and Mark McLaughlin also scored for the Bruins, who have won six of their past eight games.

Matt Coronato, Nazeem Kadri and Ryan Lomborg scored Calgary’s first goals of the season.

Jeremy Swayman has made 20 pit stops and has won five of the last six races.

Rookie goaltender Dustin Wolfe appeared in 31 games for the Flames.

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Adam Lowry scored the game-winning goal and Kyle Connor scored twice with just over a minute left in regulation as Winnipeg battled back from a third-period deficit to defeat to San Jose.

Gabriel Vilardi had 3 assists and Mark Scheifele had 1 goal and 2 assists, each scoring 3 points for the NHL’s top team.

Tyler Toffoli had a goal and an assist for San Jose, and Fabian Zetterlund and Maclin Celebrini each had a goal.

Lowry scored his ninth goal at 18:47 of the third period on assists from Dylan DeMelo and Mason Appleton.

With the Jets trailing 3-2 midway through the third period, Conner scored his 19th goal on the power play.

Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 32 saves and Alexander Georgiev stopped 29 shots for San Jose.

SEATTLE — Linus Ullmark made 30 saves and Ottawa beat Seattle to win its fourth straight game.

Shane Pinto broke the tie 8:02 into the second period and Noah Gregor scored minutes later to give the Senators the lead for good.

Tim Stutzler made it three at 4:18 of the third period, sneaking past Kraken goalie Joey Daccord for his 11th goal of the season, also. First goal since November 30th.

Daccord finished the night with 24 saves.

It was the fifth time the Kraken have been eliminated this season.
