Tevo Teravainen had a goal and two assists for Chicago in the opener of a three-game homestand. Taylor Hall, Ilya Mikheyev and Connor Murphy also scored.
Bedard scored his seventh goal of the season to break the tie. His shot from the low post just sailed past Ilya Sorokin and it looked like the goalie might have tipped it in as he tried to crawl back to the puck.
The Blackhawks have lost seven of eight games, including a 4-1 loss to New Jersey on Saturday.
Simon Holmstrom, Ryan Pulock and Noah Dobson scored for the injury-riddled Islanders, and Bo Horvat ) is out due to a lower-body injury. Sorokin made 18 stops.
