Wolves have decided to part ways with head coach Gary O’Neill following the Midlands club’s 2-1 loss to Ipswich Town on Saturday.
Jack Taylor’s late strike gave the Tractor Boys all three points, which leaves Wolves 19th in the Premier League table with just two wins from 16 games.
This is seen as the final straw for the Premier League club hierarchy, according to reports The Guardian On Sunday morning, Wolves decided to sack O’Neill after a poor start to the 2024/25 season.
Graham Potter is reportedly one of the top names on the Midlands club’s books, however, former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now emerged as Wolves’ top choice. TNT Sports. The 51-year-old’s emergence could be linked to the current vacant position at Wolves, and appointing the former Manchester United boss could be a wise choice.
Solskjaer most likely to be next Wolves manager
Solskjaer was sacked by Manchester United in November 2021 after three years in charge of the Premier League giants and has been unemployed since then.
The Norwegian coach punched above his weight at Old Trafford, but there were positives to his time at the Manchester club. Solskjaer has been warmly welcomed by the players during his time at Manchester United, with many speaking positively of him.

The former striker is a quality manager and could be just what Wolves really need after seeing a number of squabbles between players in recent games.
Although Solskjaer never brought success to Manchester United, he always had the support of the dressing room. The 51-year-old ended his time at Old Trafford with a win rate of 10%. 54.2%which is more than the likes of David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Wolves could be a good match-up, and the Midlands club has players capable of staying in the Premier League in 2025/26. If the Norwegian performs well, he might even return to Manchester United one day as everyone at the club still loves their former manager.
