ONE Championship: Nico Carrillo to face Nabil Anane in world title clash after Superlek Kiatmoo9 injured | WWE News

Scotsman Nico Carrillo will face Nabil Anane in a fight for the interim ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship title following an injury to Superlek Kiatmoo9.

Carrillo was originally supposed to fight Superlek, one of the best strikers in the world.

However, Superlek’s knee injury means Carrillo will face Thai-Algerian Anane on January 24 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand during the ONE 170 live event Heavenly sports.

The winner of this fight will face Superlek in a unification fight for the world title at the ONE 172 gala in Japan at the end of March.

Carrillo won all his fights in the promotion, and the strong Scot stopped all his opponents in the distance.

He is the No. 1 contender in the division and his target is the Muay Thai bantamweight titleholder.

“Everything I said, I did. I stuck my neck out because I’m making these bold statements about what I’m going to do, but I haven’t been wrong yet,” Carrollo previously said Heavenly sports.

“I have this burning belief in myself. I just prove myself right every time.”

Remaining undefeated in ONE Championship, with all four wins coming by knockout, highlights that confidence, as he added: “I know what the fans want to see in ONE and that is violence, so I changed my style.”
