Parry storms home to secure Mauritius Open title

Parry started the final round five shots back, but his birdie attack on the back nine saw him tie joint leader Dylan Naidoo (71), who finished at 14 under to win by two shots.

Also in second place on 12 under was Naidoo’s South African compatriot Christo Lamprecht (65).

“The course seemed a bit softer today. Only getting to 12 (in the case of eagle) gave me momentum. I took a look at the leaderboard and thought I’d be further behind,” Parry said.

“It’s huge (to win). Five or six years ago I was close to giving up golf. It was a long fight, but it was worth it.”

Parry’s previous victory on the elite European circuit came in the Vivendi Cup in 2010, but he has three Challenge Tour wins to his name this year.

Naidoo started his final round with three bogeys in the first four holes before recovering and sinking four birdies, although by then he was too far behind.

England’s Eddie Pepperell (74) also had a share of the lead going into the final round, but a double bogey on the par 5 5th pulled him back and tied him for ninth.
