Phil Taylor shares why he’s been ‘surprised’ by the Modus Super Series as PDC alternative continues to grow

The MODUS Super Series has grown exponentially since its inception in 2022, and the Portsmouth event featured some of the best players from the past, present and future of the game.

Former world champions Jelle Klaasen and Martin Adams took part in the league Łukasz Małyr cut his teeth before his extraordinary PDC debut.

Players who are not PDC Tour Card members can compete for a £25,000 prize in a weekly competition airing on Pluto TV.

WITH Adrian Lewis is expected to join the tournament this year, Phil Taylor revealed his thoughts on the growing darts league.

Phil Taylor impressed with Modus Super Series

16-time world darts champion Taylor will join Pluto TV’s coverage of the Modus Super Series and praised the league for providing an alternative to the PDC.

Speaking to Online Darts about his new role and the league, Taylor said: “To be honest, I’m pleasantly surprised.

“I thought it would take longer. Jason and Pluto TV are really pushing it. They did great, they work very hard at it, promoting the sport all the time, it’s great.”

Taylor will make his debut for the company on January 25 during the MODUS League of Legends final night.

Phil Taylor turned down a bid from Sky Sports in favor of MODUS

As one of the founders of the corporation, Taylor is synonymous with PDC, but revealed that he turned down an offer from Sky Sports to broadcast their tournaments.

Taylor suggested that the sheer enormity of the current PDC calendar prevented The Power from joining Sky Sports.

I’m talking to Daily MirrorThe Power said: “I couldn’t work on Sky, there are too many tournaments for me. It’s not for me, I can’t stay in hotels all the time. I like home life too much.

Taylor has won 14 PDC World Darts Championships, with his last appearance coming in 2013 when he defeated Michael van Gerwen in the final at Alexandra Palace.
