“It’s hard for us to fall back into control.
“We absolutely need the courage to have and have no balls. They are a very good team in Liverpool, they’re doing well and they’re very settled.”
Postecoglou added to BBC Radio 5 Live: “Liverpool was so good for us tonight. We didn’t get into the game the way we wanted. We allowed them to control it.
“When they got into the rhythm, we didn’t give ourselves a chance to gain a foothold in the game.
“We’re too passive when it comes to football without the ball. I think it’s a lesson for us. We can’t shy away from football we want to play.”
Postecoglou, who won the trophy in the club’s second season, replied: “We gave up a good opportunity tonight and we can’t avoid that.”
“We are in a good position to reach the finals.
“No one needs to pick me up, I just need to pick up the ball.”
Postecoglou also told ITV that his team “never played our identity and strengths and escaped at Anfield.”
“A tough night,” he said. “Tonight was great for us thanks to Liverpool.
“We never really got to the game with or without the ball. We just let them get under control early, which makes it very difficult for us to get into the game.
“We could have done better on both goals in the first two goals, but what really matters in the end is that we never played our identity and strengths and got rid of a little challenge.
“Overall, we didn’t get off to a good start, we were too passive and put Liverpool in the rhythm. We still had the game started on Sunday.
“With the opportunity we still have, we have to solve them in our own way, rather than find different ways to win the game.”
