“Although all Bpost drivers are extensively trained to use Dutch Reach (a technique where you open a car door with your other arm to force yourself to look behind you, ed.), a permanent visual reminder is useful,” Bpost the press release reads. “As a result, we will be installing ‘Remco Reflex’ on all vehicles.”
“At Bpost we believe a simple act can save lives,” said Chris Peeters, CEO of BPost. “With ‘Remco Reflex’ we want to remind everyone that it’s important to stay vigilant on the road. We’re sorry what happened to Remco , and wish him a speedy recovery. We hope this step will help prevent further incidents.”
Although Evernepper was hospitalized as a result of the incident, he publicly expressed his support for the female postal worker involved in the incident on his Instagram account.
“When the people at Bpost approached me with the idea, I jumped at the opportunity,” Avnepour said of the new campaign. “All road users must consider each other. Bpost’s initiative will undoubtedly help raise awareness of road hazards. So I would like to thank Bpost for launching Remco Reflex. This will undoubtedly prevent many accidents.”
