ATLANTA — Saturday’s game between Houston Rockets AND Atlanta Hawks was postponed due to the winter storm.
The NBA said the decision was made “to prioritize the safety of players, fans and staff due to severe weather and hazardous ice conditions in the Atlanta area.”
The Rockets flight arrived in Atlanta before the postponement was announced.
Winter storm threw up snow and ice on Friday in the Atlanta area, and roads were expected to freeze again Saturday evening.
The number of power outages in the Atlanta area increased Friday evening as fallen trees on power lines became a widespread problem. More than 110,000 customers, mostly in the Atlanta area, were without power.
The NBA said the date of the rescheduled game will be announced at a later date.
