Roy Keane hopes Manchester United can finally find a manager who can get the most out of their young stars after seeing Amad Diallo make an instant impact in his first few games in charge under Ruben Amorim.
Amad was a key player for United as they came from a goal down to win 2-1 at Manchester City, with the winger first winning a penalty – converted by Bruno Fernandes – and then creating in the match An exciting moment. Bad derby game, the ball went past Ederson and was shot from a tight angle.
Keane told Sky Sports: “Without a doubt, he is the biggest advantage for a new manager. He has the biggest impact on penalties and goals – which are certainly not easy to finish – and is also a player who is willing to run forward.
“It’s a brilliant moment for him and he deserves it. He’s got a little bit of energy, a little bit of quality, a young kid who’s learning his trade. Obviously you always worry and I just hope he stays grounded but It was a great afternoon for him.”

Pundit Micah Richards also chimed in: “I think he’s United’s best player this season, all things considered: the new manager, how young he is. He’s been fantastic at Sunderland, scoring goals A lot of balls, and he’s definitely made progress.
“I just love watching him: his enthusiasm, he runs in the back and he’s not afraid to attack people. He has confidence and belief that he can play at this level. “
Keane agreed: “Be prepared to run behind. The game has changed a lot in the last few years, everyone wants to go deep and get touches, but you need people to run outside the ball, outside the forwards. Manchester United spent their best years here.
“You look for certain qualities in a Manchester United player and he looks to have them. He looks comfortable in the shirt. We’ve talked a lot about recruitment and players who can’t find their footing at United, but he looks Get up and be satisfied with being a Manchester United player.
“The key for any young player when you come to any big club is: how you deal with the expectation of pressure, the contract situation and the family around him. That applies to any player who goes to a big club.
“I always tell young players to keep their feet on the ground and enjoy it, big moments like this are absolutely fantastic.”
Keane hopes Amorim can now help Amad maintain his consistency and develop some of United’s other young stars, saying: “I think that’s obviously why the manager got the job.
“They will look at his previous record, particularly in Lisbon, working with young players and developing their sales, like he had to do in Lisbon and maybe not so much at Manchester United.
“It was a good game for Manchester United. They didn’t really expect a result but it might have been just the spark they needed for the manager and staff. They’ve only been in for a few weeks but it got everyone going There’s so much excitement and you see everyone kissing the badge, which is awesome.
“Now they have to come on tomorrow and be ready for the cup game on Thursday. They have created some sparks themselves – Manchester City have had a bit of self-destruction and you need a little help along the way.
“Now they have to take it to Tottenham on Thursday night. They need to play with energy and they need more quality but they found a way to win today.”
