Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has given an update on young Argentinian winger Alejandro Ganaccio after he dropped him for the weekend’s crucial game against Manchester City.
Both Garnacho and Marcus Rashford were left out of the Manchester derby matchday squad and were not even named on the bench as the Red Devils won 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
Ganaccio hasn’t been at his most consistent best this season and Amorim seems to realize he’s “upset” by cutting his man off in such an important game.

Still, the Portuguese tactician is undoubtedly hoping for a reaction from the youngster and it seems to be working out well so far.
See below, journalist Fabrizio Romano quotes Amorim as saying Garnacho is training well now, even if he’s not too happy with the head coach’s decision…
??? Rúben Amorim: “Garnacho performed very well, he trained very well”.
“He seemed a little bit dissatisfied with me, so that was perfect! I was really, really happy because I would have done the same thing.”

Did Ruben Amorim make the right decision vs. Alejandro Garnacho?
Garnacho was a brilliant talent at the time, but he might also need the occasional reminder that his place on the team was far from guaranteed.
The 20-year-old can go on to have a brilliant career at Old Trafford, but he needs to have the right mentality and the right talent.

Amorim could be a good manager for Ganaccio, as he doesn’t seem afraid to make it clear how high the standards he expects are.
MUFC fans will be hoping that Ganaccio can use his disappointment at being left out in a positive way while making it clear to the rest of the squad that anyone is at risk of losing their place.
Amorim has not had an easy start since becoming United manager but there have been some signs of improvement, particularly in an away win at Manchester City.
