Scheffler withdraws to focus on hand rehab

On Monday (Tuesday AEDT) on his Instagram Story, Scheffler announced that his 2025 season debut remains on hold and that his target will be the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which is scheduled to start on January 30.

“After consulting with the medical team, I have made the decision to withdraw from next week’s American Express tournament to give my injury more time to heal,” he said.

“I still hope to start the 2025 season in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.”

According to his manager, Scheffler’s hand injury – a glass puncture wound sustained while preparing a meal on Christmas Day – required surgery to remove glass fragments. Full recovery was expected within four weeks.

American Express is played from January 16 to 19 in La Quinta, California.

Last year, Scheffler won eight times on the PGA Tour, won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics and won the PGA Tour Player of the Year award for the third straight year.

He finished sixth in the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
