Ahead of the upcoming World Darts Championships, PDC has announced its ‘Bigger 180’ campaign. Major sponsor Paddy Power will donate £1,000 for every 180 points during the World Cup to Prostate Cancer UK, while a bonus of £180,000 for every ninth darter during the World Cup will be split between the player, Prostate Cancer UK and one lucky fan visiting Alexandra Palace .
Ritchie Edhousewho was still the surprise winner of the European Championships at the end of October, has already revealed his support for the charity after his partner’s father was diagnosed with the disease. “It’s something close to my heart,” Edhouse said. “He’s been suffering for about five years now, so it’s a personal matter for me to see if I can help support The BIGGER 180.

A special day
Last week, Edhouse met with people involved in the campaign. “It was a different day for me because I had never done anything like this before, but it was nice to meet so many people and connect with them,” he said.
The 41-year-old Englishman is ranked 29th in this year’s World Darts Championship and is dismissed in the first round. In the second round he will face the winner of the fight between Ian White and Sandro Eric Sosing.
“I see that the World Championships are coming and that inspired me to get on the training board and prepare for them. I know that the more I do 180 degrees, the more money I can help raise.
“It’s huge to see Paddy Power donate £1,000 for every £180 and I think we will raise over £1m again, which is so important for the future.”
Last year, 914,180 points were scored at the World Darts Championships, and main sponsor Paddy Power eventually rounded this amount up to €1 million for prostate cancer research.
