Sophie McKinlay reaches second Lakeside final of the weekend as Archie Self sets up Jenson Walker clash

In the girls category at the 2024 World Championships WDF World Championships, Sophia McKinlay qualified for the final. The 18-year-old Scot, who also reached the final in the women’s category this afternoon, beating Lorena Rietbergen 3-1, won 2-0 against Italian Aurora Fochesato.

Fochesato defended the title, but instead it will be England v Scotland in the final. McKinlay won both sets 3-1. She will face Briton Paige Pauling in the final. Her opponent in the women’s final will soon be revealed in a breakthrough match between Deta Hedman and title favorite Beau Greaves.

13-year-old Belgian Paeshuyse’s law failed to reach the final of the WDF Boys’ World Championship. The supertalent faced Archie Self in the semi-finals Lake a stage that ultimately turned out to be too strong 2-0 in sets. Albeit Self was one of the favorites to seal the title before the dart was thrown past Walker, who played this year’s UK Open at PDC, for example.

Self took the lead, winning the first game in 16 darts. However, the young Belgian reacted immediately and after 17 darters he returned to 1:1. With a score of 72, the British talent regained the lead and broke his opponent.

Self then threw an 18-darter to keep his leg, taking a 1-0 lead in the set and allowing Self to start the next set.

In the first game of the second set, Paeshuyse seemed to break his opponent immediately. Self scored a spectacular 110 to decide the match in his favor. In the rematch, the Briton also defeated 12 darters and 145 points, so it seemed that nothing stood in the way of winning the match.

The 13-year-old Belgian was clearly traumatized by these two tics and was unable to turn the tide of the match. Self decided that a 16-darter game would secure the victory. In the final he will face his compatriot Jenson Walker.
