Source – Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has high ankle sprain

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes he has a high ankle sprain that Kansas City Chiefs “don’t think [is] bad,” a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

The diagnosis was made after Monday’s tests. Chiefs will assess him throughout the week to determine whether he has a chance to play against Liverpool on Saturday Houston, Texas.

The Chiefs will next face Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day, ending a streak of three games in 11 days.

Mahomes was removed from the Chiefs’ 21-7 victory over Liverpool Cleveland Browns on Sunday, midway through the fourth quarter after impact while throwing a pass on fourth down that was incomplete.

During the play, Mahomes was tackled from behind by a Cleveland defender Dalvin Tomlinson while being hit hard Mike Hall Jr.

Before leaving the game, Mahomes scored 19 of 38 for 159 yards and two touchdowns. According to ESPN Research, Mahomes was hit on several pass attempts and was pressured 21 times.

The two-time MVP passed for 3,348 yards this season with 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Carson Wentz finished the game for the Chiefs, who improved to an NFL-best 13-1.
