Taylor Swift made a surprise stop at Children’s Hospital in Kansas City, shocking parents and patients alike by laughing with them, posing for photos and exchanging gifts.
Cassie Thomas’s parents were only told in advance that she might want to brush her hair and teeth because there would be a special guest. But she was shocked when Swift, fresh off her Eras Tour and a day shy of her 35th birthday, walked into her son Beckett Thomas’s room at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City on Thursday.
“No gossip. We literally had no idea any of this was happening,” Thomas recalled.
Her 13-year-old son Beckett Thomas is a cancer patient and a Swift fan Kansas City Chiefs tight boy, Travis Kelce. Beckett uses a 3D printer to make earrings with an image of him and the Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomesnames, walking around the hospital ward and selling them to nurses.
Now Swift has a pair too.
“She was amazing,” Beckett’s mother said. – So come down to earth.
Another patient told Swift that her favorite song was “Love Story” and she had a few questions for her San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdywhose team played the Chiefs in the Super Bowl earlier this year.
Taken aback, Taylor muttered, “Brock Purdy, huh? I mean, I have nothing against Brock Purdy.” She then continued, “He put me through a lot last February.”
Asked before the Super Bowl if he was ready to disappoint Swift, Purdy replied, “Yes.”
The game ended with Mahomes winning a 25-22 victory over the Chiefs to capture his second straight Super Bowl title. 49ers overtime.
“I was really stressed out for a second, but everything turned out fine,” Swift told the girl, and their recorded conversation was posted online.
The girl then chimed in, “I like Travis now.” Swift replied: “Me too. In this case, definitely yes.”
There is no word on whether Swift will be in the stands for the Chiefs game Brown ON Sunday in Kelce’s hometown of Cleveland.
Associated Press reports.
