Chris Landman he did not face Lok Yin Lee in the first round of the World Darts Championships in London on Thursday afternoon. Landman started the match as a favorite against his unknown opponent from Hong Kong, but after winning the first set, he lost to his opponent 3-1 in straight sets.
“The first set went well. The score was good, the first dart was good and I did a lot of 180s. Then it just didn’t work out; neither triple nor double,” a disappointed Landman later told NOS.
At one point the crowd also came en masse behind his opponent and his name was chanted several times. “It didn’t bother me that much,” he said of it. “I wanted to throw myself nicely on that stage for once, whatever I usually do on the dance floor. It just didn’t happen again and that’s what annoys me the most. It wasn’t far, but it just didn’t get there.
During the match, “The Countryman” also showed increasing frustration with multiple failed doubles. I tried to stay calm, but at some point something has to step in, a double or whatever. At some point you get frustrated. You shouldn’t do it, but there’s not much I can do about it,” Landman said.
