Jonny Clayton After an exceptionally exciting match, we managed to qualify for the third round of the Darts World Championship on Monday afternoon. The 50-year-old Welshman defeated his Northern Irish opponent Mickey Mansell 3-2 after a decisive match in the last set. But even outside of darts, Clayton sometimes gets into trouble, as we learned on his podcast.
On the podcast Vincent van der Voort deepens the extraordinary story of his Welsh colleague. “He once had a snake in his house and I don’t think they were very nice animals. Sometimes they put that snake in bed. Then they carried the baby with them and each time the hose was stretched out,” says Van der Voort.
“This animal was stretching itself to strangle this child. So you need to understand your pet well. This snake keeps stretching and getting longer. That she knows how much time she has to suffocate him.”
Jonny Clayton will face Daryl Gurney in the third round of the PDC World Darts Championship.
“He also told me that another of his snakes was in a cage like that and wasn’t eating anymore. He told his friend: feed him. Then he attacked him.”
Van Gerwen
By the way, snakes seem to be popular pets among darters. “I remember when Michael (van Gerwen) was just dating Daphne, he also had a snake in the house and I didn’t even go in there.”
Van der Voort, who has his own dog, incidentally, does not understand what people think about fighting as a pet. “It’s also not like he’s happy that you’re coming home, that he stands with his head and says: it’s nice that you’re here!”
Clayton returns to action on Friday, December 27, when “Candace” faces Daryl Gurney in the afternoon session.
