Michael van Gerwen got into the World Darts Championship in the last 16 with a victory over Brendan Dolan, but he wasn’t too thrilled with his performance.
Mighty Mike defeated Brendan Dolan 4-2 in his second match of the tournament, after winning his match against James Hurrell without dropping a set.
Michael van Gerwen he averaged 97+ points in his victory over Dolan, but wasn’t too pleased with his performance and believes he has more to offer on the Ally Pally stage.

Michael van Gerwen calls for more refinement of his game
Despite drawing in the round of 16 against Jeffrey De Graaf, Mighty Mike believes he can only get better as the tournament progresses.
Speaking on stage after his victory over Dolan, van Gerwen said: “I wasn’t stable enough. It could have been better in many areas.
“Especially set five… I don’t know what I did there, but it’s just not allowed.”
The Dutchman revealed that he doesn’t feel as prepared for the biggest darts tournament as he should, but he still feels he can fight for the trophy.
He said: “My preparations didn’t go as well as I wanted. Then I left out a lot of things. Can you imagine if I played a 100% good match? I know it’s there.
“I have to show it. I played a good match in some phases, but it can still be improved here and there.
Van Gerwen will play with De Graaf in the evening session on December 30.
Michael van Gerwen’s easier path to the final
With seeded players eliminated earlier in the tournament than usual, van Gerwen found his side of the draw open.
The likes of Jonny Clayton and Dimitri van Den Bergh after Gary Anderson were eliminated from the tournament before the final stages.
If van Gerwen survives the clash with De Graaf, he will face Callan Rydz in the quarter-finals after Geordie defeated Robert Owen in the last 16 rounds.
