Ben Robb This month he will take on the fifth challenge of his career at the World Darts Championships. The rival will be the 36-year-old New Zealander Connor Scutt in the first round. If he wins, he will face ninth seed Damon Heta in the second round.
In all four of their previous trips to Ally Pally, the Kiwis lost in the first round. Understandably, Robb wants to break that negative streak this year. “I feel in control, I feel calm, I feel excited and I feel all the good things that come with it,” says Robb Herald of New Zealand. “I should have known what to expect. Whatever I believe is right is right, it’s just up to me to make it happen.

“Anyone who’s been there knows it’s hard, especially for us Kiwis because we’re so far from home, which is the hardest challenge,” Robb continues, trying to explain his poor performance in north London. “You’re on your own, that’s the hardest part, but being up there is a privilege and an opportunity.”

As previously mentioned, Robb will face Connor Scutt in his first match. The Englishman, like Robb, does not currently hold a PDC Tour Card but is in excellent form this year, which includes two tournament victories on the Challenge Tour and a quarter-final finish at the Players Championship Finals. Incidentally, Scutt has already secured his Tour Card for the next two years by winning the Challenge Tour.
“Even though he’s in great shape, I know what to expect from him. He’s a sensible guy. He supports himself and believes he can win,” says Robb. “I feel confident, the fight is good and the rest of the world will see him as the clear favorite, which is fine, but I think I’m equally capable.”
