How Adrian Lewis enters 2025, officially no longer a PDC player, after a break from playing darts, “Jackpot” is preparing to return to darts. Although the two-time world champion did it for the first time in the MODUS Super Series Q School on target for 2026.
“I didn’t go to Q School in January. I’m writing this down. Hopefully next year.” Lewis explains candidly, in quotes collected by SunSportadding that if he tries to return to the PDC, he will not do so half-heartedly. “I want to enjoy the game again. I can’t go on the field without conviction, I have to go there with 100 percent. I put my whole heart and soul into it. That would be the way back.”
As mentioned, Lewis will soon end his almost two-year sabbatical and will return to the darts track in 2025 in the MODUS Super Series. “Does this mean I’ll get my motivation back? I hope so,” he says. “When you do something for 20 years, it takes a toll on you. I need a break from this. There’s no reason I can’t go and get my Tour card back. I had lots of wishes. Everywhere I go, people ask, “When will you be back?” I say, “Not yet, when I’m ready I’ll come back.”
With issues outside the boardroom and putting family first, Lewis has been a noticeable absence from the top PDC darts competition. However, given his undisputed natural ability and almost unrivaled power score when at his best, if ‘Jackpot’ can get back to enjoying his game of darts, the opportunity to play dream matches such as Lewis vs. Luke Littler and Luke Humphries, and also Lewis rekindling his old rivalry with the likes of Michael van Gerwen could be something to look forward to in 2026.
“What did I miss? Banter. I didn’t miss the arguments I had on stage. But I missed the boys,” he sums up. “Definitely. If I come back, I will be 100% focused on winning a third world title. I have the experience and the age. The only thing missing is the hunger. When it all comes back, there will be no reason why I can’t continue.”
