From Sunday, December 15 to Friday, January 3, the fight for the world title will take place at the 2025 World Championships PDC World Darts Championships in London. In this article you will find the highest average losses in the history of this prestigious tournament.
Interestingly, there are as many as three Dutch players in the top five of the highest average losers at the World Darts Championships. The other two teams with a high losing average were pitted against the Dutch.
The leader of the list is Raymond van Barneveldwho lost Michael van Gerwen at the 2017 World Cup with an average of 109.34. The latter scored an average of 114.05 points per turn in this match. So far, this is the highest average in the history of the World Championships. This All-Dutch semi-final is no surprise as it is also the match with the highest aggregate average in the history of the PDC World Darts Championship. The total average was 223.39, almost ten points higher than the 2017 World Cup final between Van Gerwen and Anderson (212.72).
The second place is in the name Jeffrey de Zwaanwho scored 106.09 points per turn in his loss to Rob Cross in 2019. During the 2017 edition Christ Kings he failed to beat Van Gerwen despite an average of 106.07.
The same Van Gerwen lost a year earlier to Van Barneveld with an average of 105.78. Rounding out the top five is Gary Anderson. The Scot lost the 2017 World Cup final to Van Gerwen despite averaging 104.93 points per round. It is worth noting that during this edition, the Dutchman achieved the highest tournament average in the history of the Darts World Championships.
