The PDC home statistician analyzed the extraordinary statistics ahead of the election PDC World Darts Championships. Christopher Kempf, nicknamed Ochepedia, checked how well players were doing in playing decisive games in a set.

Over the years, Van Gerwen has had to play the deciding set 157 times at the World Darts Championships. Interestingly, the Dutchman won 98 of them. However, the Belgian boasts an impressive winning percentage of 68.3% in decisive matches, the highest percentage of all active players who have participated in at least 10 World Championships.
On the contrary, one of the players who did not perform well in the fifth matches of the World Darts Championship is Daryl Gurney. “Superchin” had to play the fifth game 56 times, but only won 36 percent of those games, which is quite a low percentage for a two-time major winner. Moreover, the last time Gurney won fifth at the World Darts Championship was during the 2021 edition.
