After fires in Los Angeles, the Genesis Invitational party, hosted by Tiger Woods, will be moved to Torrey Pines.
The Riviera County club was to organize the PGA Tour show event on February 13-16, but this field is in the Pacific Palisades area in southern California, which was decimated.
In connection with the ongoing disaster and respect for the victims, the tournament will be moved to San Diego before the expected return to Riviera in 2026.
Torrey Pines regularly participates in PGA Tour, organizing the Farmers Insurance Open tournament, and in the years 2008 and 2021 he also organized the US Open tournament, which Woods and Jon Rahm won respectively.
Woods said: “We are grateful to the city of San Diego and Torrey Pines for the organization of Genesis Invitational 2025, as well as to everyone who supported the tournament.
“Although Riviera is the host of The Genesis Invitational, we are looking forward to playing the next golf course of the master class this year and use the tournament to support people affected by fires in the Los Angeles region.”
Commissioner PGA Tour Jay Monahan added: “As we have seen over the past two weeks, sport can be a great entertainment, but an even greater factor uniting people for a common matter.
“Emphasizing the resistance of Los Angeles and the need for constant support for ongoing efforts to rebuild is the goal that our joint bands are working on playing The Genesis Invitational in Torrey Pines.”
This year’s Genesis Invitational will include a number of assistance initiatives related to Los Angeles, and the details will be published in a timely manner.
