RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner could be on the move again.
The Germany striker is under contract at Leipzig until June 2026 and it appears the 28-year-old could move to sister club Red Bull in New York. footmercato.
Werner hasn’t quite fired up all cylinders of late and has struggled with form over the past year to 18 months.
Despite signing a contract with RB Leipzig, Timo Werner has actually been playing football in the Premier League since January 2024.
Werner joined Tottenham Hotspur in January last year on a six-month loan deal which was then extended by a year. This means Werner’s loan spell at Spurs won’t be lifted until the summer.
The German has scored just once in 26 games this season during his time in north London. Werner continues to struggle with form, but a move to MLS could be ideal for him at this point in his career.

Werner’s loan spell at Spurs could be shortened
The only problem with Timo Werner’s proposed move to MLS New York Red Bulls is of course that he is still under contract with Tottenham Hotspur and has six months left to run.
Not to mention the fact that Spurs are currently struggling in the Premier League. There is also an injury crisis in Ange Postecoglou’s side, with the Spurs manager announcing that he does not expect any of his current squad members to leave this month, including Werner.
Spurs lost their last game at home to Leicester City despite being favorites at offshore betting venues. Werner wasn’t involved at all over the weekend, amid speculation that his rumored move to New York could build momentum.
Having said that, it remains to be seen whether RB Leipzig, Tottenham Hotspur and New York Red Bulls can find common ground and come to an agreement for Werner’s proposed move to MLS. If a deal is struck, Werner’s loan spell in England could be shortened in favor of a move to the United States.
