Tottenham have suffered greatly at center back since Ange Postecoglou was at the club, but that could all change with the signing of a top European.
While Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have established themselves as Postecoglou’s preferred centre-back Tottenhaminjuries and suspensions – often happening to both players at the same time – meant they needed a makeshift back four instead.
However, that looks set to change as Tottenham look to bring in proven quality that could result in one of the above-mentioned defenders being dropped from the starting lineup.
Tottenham interested in PSG defender Milan Skriniar
According to La Gazzetta dello SportTottenham is closely monitoring the situation of Milan Skriniar PSGand Slovak defender Luis Enrique has fallen out of favor.
Skriniar has played just four of PSG’s 14 Ligue 1 games this season and appears to be surplus to requirements in Paris. Indeed, he didn’t even make the match squad Lyons last weekend, with young players Willian Pacho and Lucas Beraldo starting the game, with Marquinhos on the bench.
The report suggests that January is a key period in the 29-year-old’s career, with Tottenham being touted as a possible transfer destination. Atletico Madrid are also related, there are also plans to return to Italy.
Skriniar signed for the French giants on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 and immediately looked set to settle in at the Parc des Princes. However, over time, Enrique’s opinion of a sensible center back has changed and Skriniar is now looking for playing time elsewhere.
Although he has three and a half years left on his contract with PSG, Skriniar is valued at just €15 million Transfer marketwhich suggests Spurs could take advantage of the opportunity in the January window. While PSG would likely demand more than that amount, they will make money on him regardless of whether they sign him for free.
IN FourFourTwoAccording to him, the report only seems to tentatively link Skriniar to Tottenham, suggesting that both teams would be a good partner for each other, without providing any concrete evidence. However, if the price is right, Spurs would do well to strengthen their defensive options under the former Inter captain.
