Travis Hunter breaks out Lil Wayne impression, thanks rapper at Heisman ceremony

Travis Hunter before Saturday, he was college football’s most decorated player this season. Now he has added the most prestigious award in sports, The Heisman Trophy.

The Colorado The winger/cornerback is the first two-way player to win the award since Michigan’s Charles Woodson in 1997, and he had many people to thank, including his coach Deion Sanders and teammate Shedeur Sandershis mom, his dadhis fiancée Leanna Lenee and, most unexpectedly, Lil Wayne.

The five-time Grammy winner was Hunter’s guest at the Heisman ceremony, and the 21-year-old gave him props, but not before admitting he wasn’t always a fan of his.

“My fiancée loves you… I didn’t know any of your songs until she told me because I don’t listen to music,” Hunter said.

“She told me, ‘You have to listen to this. If you don’t listen to music, listen to Wayne. From that day on, this is all I listen to. Pre-match music, these are the songs I listen to when I get to it [Dodge Ram] TRX and I listen to this music, I listen to Wayne.”

Hunter then shared his impressions of the rapper by singing part of “6 Foot 7 Foot” from Lil Wayne’s multi-platinum 2011 album “Tha Carter IV.”

“That’s my song,” Hunter exclaimed as the crowd laughed in approval.

“I respect you for coming here and supporting me,” Hunter added.

Lil Wayne is a famous sports fan who showed up to support the team Buffaloes at the 2023 game and who also appeared on the former FS1 show “Undisputed.”

In addition to winning the Heisman, Hunter was also named AP College Football Player of the Year and took home the Walter Camp Award for Player of the Year, the Bikretkoff Award for Outstanding Receiver and the Bednarik Award for Defensive Player of the Year.

Next up for Hunter, he and the Buffaloes will face BYU in the Alamo Bowl on December 28. Then Hunter who said it “definitely” enters the draftwill prepare for the NFL. In his latest trial projectRob Rang predicts the New York Giants will select Hunter with the No. 1 overall pick.
