TRK-R golf balls: TaylorMade announces launch monitor-enabled TP5, TP5x versions

The titleist is he is no longer the only player in an area of golf balls equipped with radar. Today, TaylorMade announced the release of the TRK-R golf balls – AKA is launching monitor-enabled versions of the TP5 and TP5x golf balls.

How did TaylorMade engineers make the company’s flagship golf ball easier to track? Silver.

That’s right, TaylorMade placed a small amount of liquid silver, which emits reflective waves, under the TP5/TP5x’s urethane cover in an “unsymmetrical infinity pattern.” This makes it easier for launch monitors to accurately capture data.

You can see what it looks like in the photo below.

“Radar-based launch monitors could be one of the biggest investments in the game. Ensuring these units provide accurate information to the golfer or installer is just as important as ensuring peak performance,” said Mike Fox, global senior director of golf ball categories at TaylorMade.

The company emphasized its commitment to fit, highlighting how TRK-R golf balls work with SelectFit technology (built-in fit markers) to Qi35 drivers.

Also worth noting: liquid silver has no performance impact and the golf balls are USGA compliant.

The TP5 and TP5x TRK-R will retail for $64.99 at TaylorMadeGolf.com. The balls will be available for installation at certified TaylorMade installation locations from January 23.
