The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 2024 season comes to an end on Sunday when former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington takes on Joaquin Barkley at Amalie Arena in Florida.

Covington came off a year-long layoff and came on short notice to face Barkley in his final UFC fight of the year.

Covington hasn’t fought since fighting Leon Edwards for the welterweight title last year at UFC 296 in Las Vegas. Although he came up short in this fight as well as in his three title fights, “Chaos” has always proven himself to be one of the top contenders in non-title matchups throughout his career. A 16-1 record.

Buckley, on the other hand, moved up to welterweight last year after a poor showing at middleweight and has been on a roll ever since, winning five straight and climbing into the top 10. The last time “New Mantha” stopped Steph at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City, “Wonderboy” Thompson’s jumping right hand stopped their fight immediately.

In the co-main event, featherweight veterans Cub Swanson and Billy Quarantillo will compete in Tampa in a fight that goes down to the wire.

Fighting for the second time this year, Swanson returns to the ring looking to bounce back from a split-decision loss to Andre Fili in June. The 41-year-old fan-favorite UFC Hall of Famer has remained competitive late in his career and earned Gracie the Fight of the Night bonus last time out in the Octagon against Kron inside Amalie Arena.

Meanwhile, “Billy Q” has alternated wins and losses over the past eight games, all of which have been tough assignments and have had their moments.
