Ulster v Bordeaux: ‘Home truths’ delivered after Toulouse loss – Soper

Soper believes the rapid recovery from Sunday’s match means Ulster cannot afford to dwell on defeat but must try to right some of the mistakes made in France.

On Saturday, they will face another difficult test at the Kingspan Stadium, during which the Bordeaux team will take second place in France’s top 14.

“We went out on the field today, so you can’t dwell too much on things, you have to get up and get back to the game,” he added.

“It’s a young group that’s still learning, but we need to start putting on shows.”

Soper hopes that despite a long list of injuries, Ulster will be able to respond to the emphatic defeat against Toulouse and play a match to be proud of on their home pitch.

“There is always pressure and expectation on Ulster playing at home at this time of year, but it is a privilege of what we do and we will turn up on Saturday hoping to play and get a good result,” he said.

“No matter how Europe is structured, you usually have to win the home game if you think you have a chance of advancing.”
