The 2024/25 Paddy Power PDC World Championship will start this Sunday (December 15). Once again, 96 players – led by world No. 1 and reigning champion Luke Humphries – will descend on the historic Alexandra Palace in north London.
A year ago, Humphries countered the efforts of unseeded 16-year-old Luke Littler in a thrilling final. This time, after such fantastic victories as the Premier League and the Grand Slam, Littler returns as one of the favorites.
Two Americans hope to prevent another English victory; Stowe Buntz and Leonard Gates. They’ve both been here before. Gates lost for the first time in 2023 to Dutchman Geert Nentjes, while Buntz suffered a similar fate last year at the hands of Nentjes’ compatriot Kevin Doets. Of course, they both hope that it will be better this time, and here previous experience has the advantage.
Texan Gates takes the stage first on Monday night against Scot Cameron Menzies, while the Virginia native doesn’t throw a dart until Thursday night. He will next face Welshman Nick Kenny.
