Well known Victoria course in Vilamourain Portugal will reopen next year as the centerpiece of a members-only private club Club banner.
The course is currently being completely rebuilt and will be virtually unrecognizable next summer.
It will be the first Els club in Europe and the only members-only club in the Algarve.
Hosting the 2007-2022 Portugal Masters tournament, it will be significantly improved both on and off the course and will offer the highest level of service to a small group of invite-only founding members once it enters play.
It is believed that only a few tee times will be available to the general public.
Ernie, a four-time major winner and former world number one, works with Global arrow in this endeavor and is excited to be able to touch the soil of continental Europe for the first time as a designer.
“This one is really special,” said Els, who has opened four of his exclusive Els Clubs around the world, adding that he will be delighted to bring his luxury concept to Europe.
“The Algarve, and Vilamoura in particular, are special places and for me, seeing Els Club’s proposal take its first steps into this market is a landmark moment and we couldn’t be more proud.”
The South African has been handpicked by Arrow Global to redesign the Victoria course. Work on the transformation of the website is already advanced and supervised by DETAILSa management company owned by Arrow Global.
Nuno Sepulvedaco-manager of DETAILS, said: “It is a true honor and privilege to work with Ernie Els on this extraordinary private club, which will offer members a new level of service and privacy previously unattainable in the Algarve. Club Els will reflect his passion and demand for excellence in everything we do.”
Arrow Global is undergoing a complete redevelopment of Vilamoura, one of the most favorite destinations for traveling golfers in Europe.
Thanks to the funds it manages, it took over Dom Pedro’s Vilamoura golf and hotel portfolio and plans significant modernization. Famous Old course has already received significant investment including improvements to the golf course and the addition of a sleek new clubhouse. Updates to other courses are planned, Pine forest, Millennium AND Lagoon.
In addition, the popular marina has been enlarged to attract larger yachts, there are plans to create an exclusive equestrian center, and many residential developments have already been completed or are on the drawing board.
