Kai Gotthardt got into the second round of the competition PDC World Darts Championships 2025 on Monday afternoon with a convincing 3-1 victory over Alan Soutar. However, the German was the star of an incredible scene during his Ally Pally debut: Gotthardt had to leave the stage in the fourth part of the first set because his dart broke in half.
Sky Sports cameras followed the 29-year-old into the catacombs of Ally Pally as he organized a replacement dart. Watch the strange scene in the video below.
Ironically, this was the catalyst for his return to competition as he came out on top after losing a set. He moves on during his Ally Pally debut.
Heartbreak for Alan Soutar and Dart Breaks for Kai Gotthardt may be the story of this tape. However, he showed that in his debut he can handle one of darting’s worst opportunities and pass it with flying colors.
