Liverpool would certainly be in a very difficult situation if they were to replace Van Dijk, as it will not be easy to find another player with that kind of quality and leadership.
The Netherlands international is showing no signs of slowing down with age, so is sure to play a key role for the Merseyside giants for many years to come.
Van Dijk could well see someone like Thiago Silva, who has managed to play at the highest level in his late 30s.
