West Ham’s new and improved £57million bid for John Duran has been rejected by Aston Villa, talkSPORT understands.
A £40m offer The submission was made last week, and the Hammers’ club-record bid was also rejected.
It is thought that This is EmeryThe side have no interest in selling the player who recently extended his contract at the club until 2030.
West Ham previously made a bid for Duran last summer with an offer of £30million plus teenager Lewis Orford, but this was rejected.
Duran has since scored 12 goals in all competitions for Villa this term.
West Ham need a striker due to injuries to current goal scorers Nicholas Fulkrug And Michael Antonio.
The club has not given a return date for either centre-forward as Antonio recovers from a car accident and Fulkrug has a significant thigh injury.
Even with them, Fulkrug has failed to impress since his £27m summer move from Borussia Dortmund.
Since signing Antonio as West Ham’s only reliable source of goals, the club have spent big on the No.9. Sebastian Haller And Gianluca Scamacca will only be disappointed.
Duran, though, may represent more of a guarantee given his impressive form in England.
He has averaged one goal per game this season, more than Mohamed Salah, Alexandre Isak and others Erling Haaland.
Chelsea were reportedly interested in Duran in the summer after scoring eight goals in 37 games in his first full season.
He has now surpassed that figure despite coming off the bench in all 12 of his Premier League appearances.
It has been surprisingly eye-catching, given West Ham’s record for conceding the sixth-fewest goals in the top flight this season, finding the back of the net 27 times in 22 games.
Changes have been made to the London Stadium in response to the replacement of Julen Lopetegui Graham Potter.
One thing remains the same though, West Ham’s aim is to bolster their forward ranks.
There are two candidates to do so Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz And Eli Wahi of Marseille, TalkSport understands.
