McIlroy entered the final round tied for the lead and made four consecutive birdies on the front nine to open a three-shot lead, but a bogey at the turn allowed Hojgaard to close the gap. However, McIlroy managed to find two birdies in the final three holes, including a stunning approach to 16, which sealed the victory.
