Later that Monday evening, Stephen Bunting continues its quest to win the 2025 World Championships title PDC World Darts Championships when he comes face to face with Luke Woodhouse for a place in the quarterfinals. As the number of big names dwindles, Bunting’s hopes of winning the Sid Waddell trophy become increasingly realistic.
However, if The Bullet were to be the one to celebrate on January 3, there is one place that Bunting particularly dreams of boasting the title of: Anfield, home of Bunting’s beloved Liverpool Football Club. “I’d Like to Do That” – Eighth seed explains in an interview with talkSPORT. “When I won Lake title in 2014, I had to take it onto the pitch when we played Aston Villa. All the Villa fans sang: “There’s only one Phil Taylor.”

Although Aston Villa fans acted like they didn’t know who Bunting was in 2014, given the growing popularity of darts over the last year or so and “The Bullet’s” newfound status as a crowd champion, it’s possible he could have gotten a very different reception from away fans at Anfield if he were to return with the Sid Waddell Trophy.
“I hope this time people will really know who I am. That would be really good,” he further explains. “I would love to do it, especially against Manchester United. There is no more important football match for me than this one.”

Over the past few years, Bunting has become a folk champion
“I have noticed that the popularity of our sport has increased by 50 percent since I started playing PDC,” adds Bunting. “Even when I’m out now, I walk the streets and I get recognized all the time. So the popularity of the game and its demographics [Luke] By being less involved, he really took it to another level. I have kids going through JD [Sports]following me and asking for selfies, photos and autographs. I hope it lasts a long time, because it’s unbelievable.”
If Bunting manages to overtake Woodhouse and reach the quarter-finals tonight in… Pally’s allyPeter Wright awaits in the last eight, with a showdown with poster boy Littler a possibility in the semi-finals.
