Edoardo Bove couldn’t hold back the tears as he sat on the Fiorentina bench for the first time since his medical emergency, but he needed a special permission to do so.
The midfielder collapsed on the pitch at the Stadio Franchi during a Serie A match with Inter on 1 December and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
It was his first time back on the field since then and he was expected to watch from the stands As his teammates faced Udinese.
However, Bove took his seat on the Fiorentina bench alongside coach Rafael Paladino.

It was something he shouldn’t have considered fitted with an implanted defibrillatorThat means he cannot participate in any sports according to Italian rules.
According to Corriere dello SportThe midfielder had to take special measures from Lega Serie A to sit on the bench and be with his teammates in the locker room.
If Bove wants to continue his playing career, he must remove the defibrillator or go overseas, where the rules are less strict.
This is why Christian Eriksen had to leave Inter in the summer of 2021 after his medical emergency.
